Glacier National Park here we come!

August 2016 - Summer Road Trip 2016 Part 1: Glacier National Park here we come!

On a beautiful Summer August morning, we woke early to hit the road on our first family road trip in an RV. I looked forward to this day for months and we had a lot planned ahead. Once every thing was loaded in our car, we got in and headed to Spokane to pick up our RV rental.

Midway through central Washington we stop to take in the view at the Wild Horses Monument. Spectacular view!

After about 4 hours of driving we finally got to Spokane and picked up our RV from Brumback RV Rentals. A 26 footer to be exact. The kids were super excited! We've been talking about this for months and we were finally doing it.

My heart was so happy as we passed through Idaho. When we visited Idaho in 2014, it just about stole my heart. It's a place I wanted to call home. But that's another story.

Driving through Montana was very pleasing. There were barely any cars on the road for miles and miles. At one point Shane thought I was taking us through the back roads because there was no one else on the roads. I had to explain that this is the norm here. No traffic. No rush hour. Just the open roads.

However, as we got closer to Whitefish, which is one of Montana's beautiful cities, we saw more civilization...

Soon after the town of Whitefish we stopped at Safeway to stock up on groceries for the next few days. Shane requested chicken adobo and bok choy pork soup for our first night's meal. Of course we also took advantage of the RV's freezer and loaded it up with lots of ice cream!

At around 9-ish, we finally pulled into Glacier National Park and got to our campsite at the Fish Creek campground in West Glacier. After driving all for about 13 hours, we pulled in, set up, ate, and went straight to bed.

I must say though, as we pulled into the campground's entrance it was super dark, and I mean dark, and the sign that said "Bear Country" scared us to the bones...but we werent gonna let that stop us from having the time of our lives!

Stay tuned for our first day in West Glacier! Cheers!
