The drive from Big Timber KOA to Devil's Tower via the I-90 was 365 miles. 5 1/2 hours of drive time, not including stops. There are several routes available to get to Devil's Tower, however, we opted to stay on the I-90 so that we were on a road with lots of cars passing through and for gas stations. You dont wanna be on a road with little to no traffic in the middle of nowhere. Although the I-90 on this side of the stretch still seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, but there were a lot of passing traffic and that can sometimes be assuring in case your car ever breaks down. The I-90 from Montana to Wyoming seems to continue forever. There wasn't much to be seen except for miles and miles of rolling hills. Don't get me wrong though, the landscape was indeed very beautiful. Much better to the eyes than concrete buildings.

Welcome to Wyoming
Sheridan, Wyoming
Finally, after hours of driving, we took the cut-off near the town of Moorcroft, Wyoming and took Hwy 14 towards Devil's Tower. This road has a lot of cattle crossings so be careful and take your time driving through. About 12 miles in, on one of the sharp turns, we saw a semi truck that had just flipped over on the side of the road. The driver looked as if he just managed to get out of the truck and was completely shaken. Thankfully he appeared to only have a few scratches. A cattle seemed to have jumped out in front of his truck and the rest was history. Shortly after, Devil's Tower appeared in the distance.
What a beautiful sight! We stayed at the Devil's Tower KOA for the night. The location could not have been more perfect! They have a swimming pool and also play the movie Close Encounters nightly at 8pm.
After checking-in and parking the trailer, we headed out to the National Park. Devil's Tower is America's first National Monument. Yellowstone is also America's first National Park. Both of which are in the State of Wyoming.
There are quite a few trails that you can explore, however, the most popular trail is a short paved one that takes you right at the base of the tower.
Surprisingly, many climbers come from all over the world to reach the tower's summit. Unfortunately we did not see any. Although many birds were flying high above the tower. We arent sure of the type of bird it was. It may be a type of eagle.
There are also a lot of prairie dogs. I mean a whole lot. They even caused a traffic jam.
The outpost has many Sturgis and one of a kind gifts available for purchase. They also serve ice cream and snacks if youre hungry.
